In the lead-up to the Gaza Tribunal’s Final Session in Istanbul, the Gaza Tribunal Side Event was held on the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The gathering provided a global platform to discuss the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the urgent need for justice, accountability, and moral action.

The event brought together distinguished experts in international law, human rights, and global governance, with the opening speech by Prof. Richard A. Falk, President of the Gaza Tribunal. Also in attendance were members of the Tribunal’s Steering Committee, Ms. Penny Green, Mr. Craig Mokhiber, Mr. Michael Lynk, Mr. Wesam Ahmad and Mr. Wadie Said along with diplomats, academics, and civil society representatives.

Discussions centered on the failure of international institutions to uphold international law, the role of people’s tribunals as moral instruments of justice, and the imperative for the United Nations and its member states to act decisively to end the genocide and hold perpetrators accountable.

The side event reaffirmed the Gaza Tribunal’s commitment to bridging the gap between conscience and enforcement, emphasizing that when states fail, civil society must speak and act in defense of humanity.
